6396: | bury. He was intended, by his father, for |
6397: | an architect, but his love for music ultimately |
6398: | prevailed, and he adopted ihe art as his pro- |
6399: | fession. He received his earliest instruction |
6400: | as a choir boy after the removal of his family |
6401: | to Harrogate, and afterwards became con- |
6402: | ductor of the local Philharmonic Society. |
6403: | As organist, teacher, lecturer, and composer, |
6404: | he is a prominent and busy figure in musical |
6405: | life at Harrogate. |
