- Davy, John
[E] Davy, John, composer, was born at Upton-
Helions, Exeter, December 23, 1763. Articled
to Jackson of Exeter, 1777. Resided in Exeter
as teacher. He afterwards became a violinist
in the orchestra of Covent Garden Theatre,
and a teacher and composer in London. He
died in St. Martin's Lane, London, February
22, 1824, in extreme indigence, having out-
