The British Musical Biography

[E] Ascher, Joseph, composer and pianist,
born of German parents at London in 1831.
He studied the pianoforte under Moscheles and
at Paris, where he chiefly resided. He held the
appointment of pianist to the Empress Eu-
genie. He died London, June 20, 1869.
