at Belper, Derby, September 8, 1760. Ap-
peared as treble singer at the Concert of
Ancient Music, 1776-78. Sang at Handel
Commemoration, 1784. Tenor at Concert of
Ancient Music. Married Miss Cantelo, 1790.
Established (with Knyvett) the Vocal Con-
certs, 1791-4. He died at London, June 25,
1812.[+] Was one of the most popular tenor singers
of his time, and was particularly successful
