[E] Harrop, Sarah, Mrs. Joah Bates, soprano
vocalist, born in Lancashire, and was origin-
ally employed in a factory at Halifax. She
studied under Sacchini and Dr. Howard.
Married to Joah Bates, 1780. She sang at all
the principal London concerts and festivals.
