King, Jessie

[E] King, Jessie, contralto vocalist. Studied
in London, and appeared at the Crystal Palace
June 22, 1889, taking part in the concerted
music in "Elijah," performed on Festival
scale in the Handel Orchestra. She was en-
gaged for the Gloucester Festival of 1892,
at Worcester the next year, and at Hereford
in 1894 ; singing with much success. Since
then she has gained a good position among
vocalists of the day. She sang at the Glou-
cester Festival, 1895 ; at Tewkesbury Festival
and at the Jubilee performance of "Elijah,"
Crystal Palace, June 27, 1896.
