Kinloch, George R

[E] Kinloch, George R., Scottish ballad
collector, published " Ancient Scottish Ballads
recovered from tradition, and never before
published, with notes and an appendix con-
taining the airs," Edinburgh, 1827. The
dance tune " Kinloch of Kinloch," usually
adapted to ConoUy's song, " Mary Macneil,"
and also to Andrew Park's " Hurrah for the
Highlands," was conr loosed by George Kinloch
of Kinloch. It first appeared in Watlen's
" Circus Tunes," afterwards in collections of
Gow.
