Lawrie, Alexander

[E] Lawrie, Alexander, composer and pian-
ist, was born at Edinburgh, June 26, 1818.
Organist of S. James' Episcopal Chapel, Edin-
burgh, and in the Rev. John Kirk's Church
in the same city. He died at Edinburgh,
December 9, 1880. A blind musician of great
local fame. He arranged some music for the
pf., and composed some hymns and songs.
He also wrote accompaniments for a few of
the songs in Wood's " Songs of Scotland."
