Leybourne, George

[E] Leybourne, George, comic singer, who
was well-known in London and provincial
music-hails as a delineator of the heavy swell
variety of character. He called himself the
" Lion Comique," and introduced or sang
such songs as "Champagne Charlie," "Up
in a balloon," " She danced like a fairy,"
and " Lancashire Lass," etc. He died in
Loudon, Sejotember 15, 1884.
