Linley, George

[E] Linley, George, poet and composer, born
at Leeds in 1798. Died at London, Sept. 10,
1865.

[+] Linley also wrote the words of a large num-
ber of songs, and published two satirical poems,
" The Musical Cynics of London," London,
1862, an attack on Chorley, the musical critic,
and " Modern Hudibras," London, 1864.
His son George (died 1869), published some
poetical works.
