[E] MacCalla, James, composer and teacher,
was born about the end of last centur}'. He
was a musician m London, and a member of
the Royal Society of Musicians. Died Lon-
don, April 3, 1847. He composed " Life, a
cantata," 1840; Songs, pf. music, etc., and
edited " The Choir and Congregational Part
