- McGibbon, William
[E] McGibbon, William, violinist and com-
poser, was born about the beginning of the
18th century. Son of jMatthew McCi-ibbon,
oboe player, who performed at the St. Cecilia
concert, Edinburgh, in 1695. He studied the
violin under Corbet, of London. Leader of
Gentlemen's Concerts at Edinburgh, and
teacher there. He died at Edinburgh, Oct-
