The British Musical Biography

[E] McGill, John, composer, born in Ayrshire,
in 1707. He was an associate of John Riddell,
of Ayr, but is supposed to have been an itin-
erant musician in some of the towns of Ayr-
shire. He composed the tune now associated
with the song called " Come under my plaidie."
