- M'Glashan, Alexander
[E] M'Glashan, Alexander, violinist, who
flourished in Edinburgh about the end of last
century. He was the leader of a fashionable
band, in Edinburgh, and gave concerts. He
was nicknamed " King M'Glashan," on account
of his fine personal appearance. He died at
Edinburgh, in May, 1797. He published " A
Collection of Strathsxjey Reels, with a bass for
the violoncello or harpsichord," 1778 ; A Col-
lection of Scots Measures, Hornpipes, Jigs,
Allemands, Cotillons, and the fashionable
Country Dances, with the bass for the violon-
