[E] Machray, Alexander, amateur musician,
born at Aberdeen, June 7, 1837. He studied
music under Richard Latter and W. R.
Broomfield. From 1855 to 1876 he was
leader of psalmody in the East Church,
Aberdeen, and was Secretary of the Aberdeen
Choral Union, etc. He is an advocate irii
Aberdeen. Compiler of " The Scottish Psalm-
ist, a manual of standard and choice psalm
and hymn tunes for christian worship,"
