[E] M'Kercher, Duncan, violinist and com-
poser, born at luver, Dunkeld, N.B., in 1796.
He resided chiefly in Edinburgh, and died at
Colinton, near that city, on December 14,
1873. He composed a number of strathspeys,
most of which were published in two collec-
tions of dance music which were issued about
1830. Many of the dances in these collec-
tions were by Captain Daniel Menzies.
