- Mann, Thomas Edward
[E] Mann, Thomas Edward, hornist. When
a boy he was in the Duke of York's School,
Chelsea. He became one of the finest horn
players of his day, and was also a performer
on the cornet. For many years he was prin-
cipal in the leading orchestras, and up to
1896 was in the band of the Philharmonic
Society, the Three Choirs, and other provin-
cial Festivals, playing at the Worcester
Festival of September, 1896. He died at-
Kilburn, London, January 17, 1897. He was
professor of the horn at the Kneller Hall
Military School of Music ; at the R.A.M.,
