Manson, James

[E] Manson, James, musician, and minor
poet, was born at Kilwinning, in Ayrshire,
about 1812. His father was a tailor, and for
some time James followed the same occu-
pation. He went to Glasgow and engaged in
literary pursuits, but became blind in 1858,
He died at Glasgow, September 3, 1863. He
edited the British Minstrel, 1842-44, and
issued a volume of poetry, and a collection
of music, in three volumes.
