Marriott, Charles Handel Rand

[E] Marriott, Charles Handel Rand, com-
poser and violinist, born at Loiidon, Novem-
ber 3, 1831. He was a violinist, and acted as
musical director at Highbury Barn, London,
from 1860 tiU 1865. Afterwards he held the
same position at the Cremorne Gardens, and
at the Pier Pavilion, Hastings. He was
musical editor of the Young Ladies' Journal.
He died at Hastings, December 8, 1889.

[W] Works. — Songs : England's trust ; Land
ahead ; Lily of the West ; Lost friends ; There
grew in the forest a mighty oak. Songs for
children. Numerous light pieces and arrange-
ments for the pianoforte.
