Somercotes, Lincolnshire. Chorister, rft.
Philip's, Hulme, Manchester, 1860-5, and
pupil of F. Pugh and Dr. Hiles. F.R.C.O.,
1888. Took the Toronto Mus. Bac, 1889.
Has held af)pointments as organist and choir-
master at St. Peter's, Levenshulme, 1866 ;
St. Thomas', Norbury, 1872 ; St George's,
Altrincham, 1879 ; and has been, from 1884,
at St. John's, Altrincham. Conductor of
Choral Societies at Altrincham, Bowden, and
other places ; and lecturer on subjects con-
nected with music.[W] Works. — Cantatas: Jacob and Esau (1888);
Star of the East (1889) ; The Lord is risen
(1890); and The old, old story (1892). Choral
Ballad, Delphi, men's voices and orchestra ;
The Silver Lily, cantata for female voices.
