Meredith, Edward

[E] Meredith, Edward, bass singer, born
near Wrexham in 1741. He was discovered
by Sir W. Wynn singing in a cooper's work-
shop, and was by that baronet put with
singing masters and properly trained. He
had a very fine voice and sang at the Ancient
Concerts in London, but was chiefly identified
with Liverpool, where he sang at all the
principal concerts. He died at Wrexham,
December 26, 1809.
