Morison, Roderick

[E] Morison, Roderick, or Roby Dall
O'Cahen, poet, harper, and composer, was
born in the Island of Lewis in 1646. He was
the son of an episcopal clergyman, and was
educated at Inverness. He lost his sight
after an attack of small-pox, and became
harper to the family of Macleod, of Lewis.
He died near Stornoway early in the 18th
century. He composed some Gaelic airs,
but is best known as a poet.
