The British Musical Biography

[E] Nicholson, or Nicolson, Richard, or-
ganist and composer, was born in the second
half of the 16th century. Organist and
chorus-master, INIagdalen College, Oxford,
1595. Mus. Bac, Oxon., 1596. He was the
first choragiis or professor of music in Oxford
University on Heather's Foundation, in 1626.
He died at Oxford, 1639. Composer of mad-
rigals in the " Triumphs of Oi-iana," etc.
