- Adlington, William
[E] Adlington, William, pianist, teacher, and
publisher, born at Southwell, Notts., in 1838.
He was educated at the R.A.M., of which he
became an Associate in 1865, and a Fellow in
1882. In 1864 he settled in Edinburgh, and
held various important teaching appointments.
Afterwards he resided at Aberdeen, where he
was conductor of the University Orchestral
Society. He is now engaged in musicselling
and publishing. Author of "Elementary
principles of music and elements of harmony
adapted for those studying the pianoforte."
