- Orridge, Ellen Amelia
[E] Orridge, Ellen Amelia, contralto vocal-
ist, born at London, August 14, 1856. She
studied at the R.A.M. under Garcia, and
gained the Thomas (1877), Nilsson (1878), and
Parepa-Rosa (1878), prizes. She was well-
known at most of the Loirdon and provincial
concerts, and was a special favourite in ora-
torio music. She died at Guernsey, Septem-
