- Pearson, Martin
[E] Pearson, Martin, composer, was born in
the latter half of the 16th century. Master
of the children of St. Paul's Cathedral, 1604.
Mus. Bac, Oxon., 1613. He died in 1650, and
left £100 to the poor of March, in the Isle
of Ely.[W] Works. — Private Musicke, or the first
Booke of Ayres and Dialogues, containing
Songs of 4. 5, and 6 parts of severall sorts, etc.,
1604. "Mottects, or grave chamber musicke,
for voices and vials, with an organ part which
may be performed on virginals, bass-lute,
bandora, or Irish harjo," 1630. Compositions
