[E] Phillips, Adelaide, contralto vocalist,
born at Stratf<.>rd-on-Avon in 1833. She sang
in Boston and Philadelphia, and studied in
London under Garcia and W. C. Masters,
1852 ; also in Italy. Appeared in London,
Paris, and in United States of America. She
