- Philpot, John
[E] Philpot, John, double-bass player, was
born in 1759. He was for more than fifty
years a member of the orchestra of Bath, and
as a double-bass player was considered second
only to Dragonetti. He died at Bath, January
26, 1843. He was the father of Mrs. Anderson,
