Quarles, Charles

[E] Quarles, Charles, organist and composer
of the early part of the 18th century. He
was organist of Trinity College, Cambridge,
and in 1698 he graduated Mus. Bac, Cam-
bridge. In 1722 he was made organist of
York Minster. He died at York, in 1727.
He composed lessons for the harpsichord, etc.
