- Beale, Thomas Willert
[E] Beale, Thomas Willert (Walter May-
nard), born in London, 1828, son of Frederick
Beale, of the firm of Cramer, Beale, and
Addison. Studied under Edward Roeckel>
G. F. Flowers, and Pugni. Was one of the
founders of the New Philharmonic Society,
but did not adopt music as a profession, being
called to the bar at Lincoln's Inn, 1863. Be-
sides the works mentioned below, he contri-
buted many articles to different magazines.
He died at Gipsy Hill, London, October 8,
