[E] Scott, Walter, pianist, violinist, and
conductor, born at Long Sutton, Lincoln-
shire, October 10, 1842. Studied pf. under
Benedict, and violin with H. Holmes. Resi-
dent in Cardiff ; hon. local examiner for
R.C.O. ; organist of St. Margaret's Church.
Has played organ solos at Eisteddfodau,
Cardiff, and trained the Cardiff contingent
of the choirs of the Gloucester and Worcester
Festivals up to 1890, when those counties
drew more from their own resources. With
this Cardiff choir Mr. Scott has given some fine
concerts ; he has also acted as chorus-master
for the Cardiff Musical Festivals. He has
written a Communion Service, Te Deum and
Benedictus, songs, violin and pf. pieces, etc.entry id: 365-L-6
