- Sheppard, or Shepherd, John
[E] Sheppard, or Shepherd, John, organist
and composer of the 16th century. He was
a chorister in St. Paul's Cathedral, London,
and afterwards became instructor of choris-
ters and organist of Magdalen College, Oxford,
1542-47. He graduated Mus. Doc, Oxford,
in 1554. He composed, masses, motets, and
other Church music, mostly preserved in
