Smith, Isaac

[E] Smith, Isaac, composer, was born about
the middle of the 18th century. He was clerk
of Alie Street Meeting House, London. He
died at London, about 1800. Published " A
Collection of Psalm Tunes in Three Parts,
adapted to each measure as now sung in
several churches, chapels, and meeting-houses
in and about London "...London [1770]; 5th
edition, by S. Major, 1788. The well-known
tune " Irish " appears in this collection, and
has been attributed to Smith.
