Smith, J. Whitehead

[E] Smith, J. Whitehead, organist, pianist,
and violinist, born at Wells, Somersetshire,
1827 ? Took lessons of a Mr. Dix, and of Mr.
Angel. Entered the R.A.M., 1843, and dis-
tinguished himself as a pianist at the Academy
concerts, and played the violin in the students'
orchestra. A.R.A.M., and F.R.A.M. Assist-
ant organist, St. Mary's, Paddington Green ;
librarian and organist, INIarlborough College ;
and for more than thirty years organist of Wim-
borne INIinster. Local examiner for R.C.M.
