Smith, William

[E] Smith, William, amateur musician, born
at Chapel of Garioch, Aberdeenshire, where
his father was minister, December 6, 1803.
He was a merchant in Aberdeen, and died at
Newtyle, Forfarshire, August 31, 1878. He
issued "The People's Tune Book: a manual
of Psalmody for Scotland. Selected by
express permission from the copyright
arrangements of Novello, Horsley, Greatorex,
Havergal, Jacob, and other eminent profes-
sors." Aberdeen, 1844.
