- Staggins, Nicholas
[E] Staggins, Nicholas, composer, was made
master of the Royal music in 1682, and
graduated Mus. Doc, Cantab., in the same
year. He was the first professor of music in
Cambridge University, 1684. He died in 1705.
Composer of Odes for the birthdays of William
III. and Queen Anne ; Songs in Choice "Ayres,
Songs, and Dialogues," 1763; music for Drj'-
