Stuart, Ralph

[E] Stuart, Ralph, pianist, born at Dart-
mouth, Devon. His father was an army
staff-surgeon. He studied at Leipzig aud
Heidelberg, and in 1880, went to New Zealand
for the benefit of his health. He was heard
in concerts at the principal towns there, and
in Australia; and was the pianist of the
Melba Concert Party. In July, 1888, he gave
a Chopin recital at the Princes' Hall, London ;
and has since given recitals at various times,
making a speciality of his interpretation of
the music of Chopin.
