[E] Tait, Patrick Macnaghten, F.S.S.,
F.R.Q.S., son of the late William Tait, Esq.,
was born in Edinburgh. In 1851 proceeded
to India, and was there through the Mutiny,
when he raised the Rifle Company of the
Calcutta Volunteer Guards. Contributor to
various magazines, chiefly on subjects of Mor-
tality and Insurance. The work claiming
notice here is " Vital and other Statistics
applicable to Musicians," 1880.
