Taverner, John

[E] Taverner, John, organist and composer
of the 16th century. He was organist of
Boston, Lincolnshire, and of Christ Church,
Oxford. He was involved in the Reformation
struggle, and narrowly escaped martyrdom.
He composed masses, motets, and anthems,
now existing in MS.
