Thomson, Alexandra

[E] Thomson, Alexandra, composer of pre-
sent time. Daughter of the Most Rev. W.
Thomson, Archbishop of York (1819-1890).
Studied under Dr. Naylor. Her setting of
Campbell's "Battle of the Baltic," for chorus
and orchestra, was produced October, 1890,
at the Festival at Hovingham, Yorkshire.
She has also composed some madrigals, "The
shepherd's elegy," " Holiday in Arcadia," op.
12, etc.
