[E] Tiley, Joseph Crispin, composer, was
born in 1843. He graduated Mus. Bac,
Oxford, in 1866, and Mus. Doc, in 1874.
Organist of Christ Church, Rotherhithe ; St.
Matthew's Episcopal Chapel, Westminster,
1862; St. Michael, Bassishaw, 1864. Gave
recitals, 1866. Being possessed of private
means he devoted himself chiefly to musical
composition, but only a few of his pieces were
published, and these chiefly in the Organists'
Quarterly Joiirnal, 1882-84. He died at Lon-
don, July 1, 1879.
