tor and teacher of singing, born in London,
February 4, 1844. Studied under G. A. Mac-
farren and E. Silas. Settled in America,
1869. Conductor of Apollo Glee Club, Chicago,
from 1875 ; Choral Director, Chicago Exhibi-
tion, 1893. Member of American College of
Musicians. Author of a work on Elementary
vocal tuition, " Children's Songs, and how to
sing them," Boston, Ditson, 1885 (?) A paper
on " Music and Education," delivered at
