Birnie, Patie, or Patrick

[E] Birnie, Patie, or Patrick, violinist and
minor poet, who lived at Kinghorn, in Fife,
at the end of the 17th century. He wrote
" The auld man's mear's dead " and other
songs, and was a famous fiddler in his day..
He distinguished himself at the Battle of
Bothwell Bridge, which he took part in as
one of the Fife militia, by running away.
