- Bridgeman, John Vipon
[E] Bridgeman, John Vipon, musician and
writer, born in 1819. He was for upwards of
30 years foreign editor of the Mzisical TForM.
Translated Wagner's " 0]}ev und Drama,"
Judaism in music, etc. Wrote libretto of
Balfe's, Armourer of Nantes, and Puritan's
daughter. Also translated various novels and
other works from the French and German,
such as Freytag's " Soil und Haben " (Debit
and Credit), and works by Gautier, Blanc,
and Hugo. He died at London, September
