[E] Bumpus, John S., writer on music of
the present time. Has written a number of
valuable antiquarian papers on musical sub-
jects, among which may be named " A short
history of English Cathedral Music"; "St.
Patrick's and Christ Church Cathedrals, Dub-
lin"; and "The Organists and Composers of
St. Paul's Cathedral." These were originally
contributed to the Musical Standard, 1884-8.
