1827. Studied under his father, James Calkin.
Organist, precentor, and choirmaster, St.
Columba's College, Ireland, 1846-53; Woburn
Chapel, London, 1853-7 ; Camden Road
Chapel, 1863-8; St. Thomas' Church, Cam-
den Town, 1870-84. F.C.O. Member of the
Philharmonic Society ; Member of the Coun-
cil, Trinity College, London ; Professor at
Guildhall School of Music.
