[E] Capes, Rev. John Moore, composer
and writer, was born at Stroud. Was B.A.,
Oxford, 1836 ; M.A., 1846 Died in 1889.
He composed "The Druid," a tragic opera,
produced at St. George's Hall, Liverpool,
February 22nd, 1879. This work attained
not more than local renown. Capes has also
written " An essay on the growth of the
musical scale and of modern harmony,"
London, 1879.
