[E] Allitsen, Frances, vocalist and composer
of the present time. Made her debut at
Grosvenor Hall, July, 1882 ; and has since
sung at various concerts. She has composed
six songs (Tennyson) ; eight songs (Heine) ;
After long years ; Mary Hamilton ; In times
of old; Warning; False or true, and others.
Emma Allitsen, her sister, is a contralto voca-
list, pupil of the late J. P. Goldberg. Has
appeared at, and given concerts in London.
Was a professor of singing at the Blackheath
Conservatoire.
