- Challoner, Neville Butler
[E] Challoner, Neville Butler, harpist and
violinist, born London, 1784. He studied in
London, and first appeared as a violinist in
1798. He was violinist at Covent Garden
Theatre in 1796 ; at Richmond Theatre, 1799 ;
and subsequently leader at Birmingham,
Sadler's Wells Theatre, etc. Harpist at It-
alian Opera, London, and tenor player at the
Philharmonic Society. Latterly, he was a
