[E] Chapple, Samuel, organist and com-
poser. Was born at Crediton, Devon, 1775.
He was blind from childhood ; but after
studying the pianoforte he became organist
at Ashburton, 1795-1833. He died at Ash-
burton, October 3, 1833.
